A good walk to town but ok

Although this hotel is on the outskirts of the city of Girona, taxis are readily available for the infirm. Anybody able to walk on a flat pavement may find the journey into the old town area enjoyable. however we found that once was enough and then used taxis. Taxi fare from Old Town Girona to the Melia Hotel was usually around 4 euro's. The Hotel is well placed for the railway station around a 10 minute walk and trains to Barcelona are regular and cheap. This rail journey takes around 1 and a half hours and was ultra reliable. The hotel itself was spotlessly clean, professionally run, with excellent rooms,with fully stocked bathroom, courtesy tray and minibar.A first class breakfast where hot food was available as well as an immense selection of meats, cheeses, cereals and a wide variety of drinks.basically something for everyone. I would reccommend this hotel to anybody travelling to Girona and needing a comfortable night's sleep. By the way, Girona was very pleasant, with the old town area packed full of little surprises around every corner.

Girona is a good starting point for a stay in Spain when flying into the local airport.

Top Tip

A must see is the cathederal and the old part of town.
